Does anybody else notice that the 20ga Heavyweight 7s shoot high? Today I shot magblends, hevi13s, and Heavyweights and the HWs consistently shot 5" higher than the other. Kinda messed me up when I was sighting in my gun..

Because of the higher velocity would be my guess.

Most loads shoot to different POIs due to differing barrel harmonics, same as different rifle bullets do. With the wide patterns that conventional lead loads produce, it is often not readily apparent. But with the ultra-tight patterns produced by most HTL loads as well as Winch LBs, differences in POI become much more apparent. My best advice is pick the load you like based on its pattern and equip your gun with adjustable sights of some type. Then adjust POI to correspond to POA just like you would with a rifle and stick with that load.

My brother was told by Stoeger that they test with a modified choke and field load for POA/POI.

A high velocity load that shoots high left in his gun is on target fairly well without the choke, mag shell.

It can and does happen and so important to know how a gun/choke/shell shoots.

Lots of guns are designed to shoot 60/40 or 60 % high of POA and 40% low.

I wish my Rem 870 20 ga. shot high, but it shoots a tad low with the HWs.  I had much rather have a gun that shoots a little high instead of shooting low.  Allows you to see more of the target.

Easy fix.  Two words...ADJUSTABLE SIGHTS.   :icon_thumright:
