Has anyone tryed this combo. I tryed the long beard XR with good results. Have some Honrady heavy magnum #5 and some federal mag-shock #5. Also have some heavy shot #5 I shot out of my stoeger last year, I wanna try. Anyone have any suggestions or comments?

From my experience I would use the Hornady for squirrels or rabbits.....things arent worth a hoot for turkey loads. If you get good results with the Longbeards i'd stay with those.

^this^ Those Hornady turkey shells are without a doubt the worst loads I've ever tried.

Before I started using the HTL stuff, I had great results out of my GT 665 with Win XX #5's

I would still not hesitate to use them again if I had to...

everyone is right those hornady's were by far the worst. Believe it or not the cheap federal mag-shok shock 2oz #5 were by far the best pattern I have found my new load with this combo.

I just purchased a Kicks .665 for my backup Mossberg 500. Kicks are the only chokes I shoot so you got a good choke.  I have yet to see one not pattern good with the right shell. As others have said I wouldn't think the Hornady would throw any great numbers.

I would'nt even shoot the Hornady shells at squirrels.

What shells have you had luck with, with that combo? Have you experimented much with your back up 500?

Here is a fifty yard pattern with the same set up that you're asking about. Sure, it can be bd better, but this pattern has dead bird all over it.
I was shooting the Hevi 13 mag blend.

I haven't patterned mine yet. This coming week I will know more.

At fifty yards that looks good to me I was worried about shooting heavy shot out of that choke with it being ported and the flight control wad. Doesn't look like it affected it there.
