conditioning copper?

Just finished making a couple pot calls with copper surface. I know nothing about copper calls. What should I use to prep them?

Sandpaper--if so what grit?

Scotchbrite pads?

Something else?

Scotchbrite , and let her roll.

Try putting the belt sander to the copper surface before you install it on your next one and see how it works.

X-2 Will make it look brand new. Go in one direction, ok to go in different directions getting your edges to look good. I do my edges first and then the middle.

I do rough sandpaper to get it started - 80 grit or so, then I switch to the scotch brite. I also sand the underside of the copper before I glue it up. There's usually a burr around the edges so I figure that will get it to sit a little more flush.

After scotchbrite use a little alcohol pad on the copper. It cleans it up nice.

I have one of the  Lightsout copper Osage and he recommends 320 grit sandpaper.

I use scotchbrite then rotate 90 degrees and scotchbrite it again.  Works well.
