Optics Mounting on A400 Xtreme

Pretty excited- just bought a Beretta A400 Xtreme as my new do everything shotgun. Trying to figure out what kind of mount attaches to the grooves cut in the top of the reciever? The bases that Beretta sells looks like they are just for the 391. Is there some type of ring that attaches directly? Want to know what my options are for attaching a scope or a red dot. Ideally I would like a low power scope on QD rings so I can switch from turkey gun to clays and doves pretty quick. However, I put a trijicon RMR on a rifle and not really happy with it there. Would make a nice donor for the shotgun if I could figure the mount out!

As long as I am on the topic too- also looking at the Williams Fire sight. I think the rib on the Beretta is 6mm and the Williams are made specifically for 1/4", 5/16" etc. SAE measurements. anyone had luck getting them to fit?

To  convert mm to inches- there are .039 inches in a mm. You have a 6mm rib, so 6 x .039= .234. a 1/4 inch is .250 so that one should be the closest fit and should work fine.Congrats on the a400, it's a really nice gun. We have an a300 and love it. Not sure about mounts for the a400. I'm sure someone can help you out here though.

Ward- thanks. Going to give the Williams a try. In case anyone else is wondering- I just got off the phone with Beretta CS. They said there is no mounting system yet for the A400 3.5" guns and he honestly didn't know when they would  make it. Said its up to Italy. I don't mind the iron sights a bit, so not too concerned, but hopefully by next turkey season they will have some kind of mount out. Seems kind of crazy to groove the receiver with no base or rings made for it.

If it's the same as my dad's Xtrema II then you will have to get the Beretta mount for the receiver. I had a spare that I recently sold. It was the camo version as well.

Yeah the Customer Service guy wasnt very knowledgeable. He didnt think the base that Beretta sold would fit as its labeled as being for the 391. Then again, he thought the A400 was a rifle when we first spoke and told me I needed the Optilock rings for it  ::)

From what I understand Burris makes a speedbead mount for the a400. Since you already have an RMR you might want to see if it would mount up to the Burris base. Now that would be a neat setup!

Well I had someone measure the receiver cuts on a 391 to see if that base would fit my A400. They are identical. Went to the Beretta website to order the 391 base and they have updated it in the last 2 weeks since I looked to say it fits the A400 Xtreme! Wonder if my call to CS prompted that? Anyway- ordered one.....now I have to decide if the RMR will find a new home there or if I will put a light low power scope on it...decisions, decisions! Thanks for the help....

Happy to be returning the Williams Fire sights. They are not easy on and off. Its not a dedicated turkey gun so easy on and off for my sights are pretty important. Hope the Beretta base holds zero taking it on and off. Looks like it will be very close at least.... :funnyturkey:
