Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Ah the Super Bowl, America's biggest cash box where millions are spent and wasted, where hours are abused sitting infront of a tv screen, where diets are tested at the ultimate Bowl Party....you name it, you can find it at the base of the Super Bowl, all except for one thing, the fight between righteousness and unrighteousness that is fought on a world wide battlefield between God and Satan. This battle (which is already recorded as a win for God) is on the back burner in man's life, while the Super Bowl is on the front and center of millions and millions, what if God decided to send Jesus back 10 minutes before the kick off? All that time and effort and money spent for nothing....think of the millions who would be stranded in their seats....at the stadium or in their living rooms...as God's team ( the Christians) would be lifted into the air to meet their Savior in the skies...wins the Bowl of Life Eternal.
But be of good courage, the fight will go on, the win is inevitably God's and we can be part of it. Our cheer leaders aren't scantly dressed trying to draw attention to themselves, but are dressed in robes of white, they aren't the Broncos or the Seahawks, they ARE THE SAINTS, not from New Orleans, but from heaven, the score isn't going to be tight, it isn't going to be a tie, it isn't going into overtime, it is set in stone, written in the Blood of Jesus, there will be no reviewing by any referee, and it will be final.
So am I saying it is sinful to watch the Super Bowl, nope, am I saying wasted time is sinful, eh.....that is a hard call...throw the red flag in for a challenge on that one, what I am saying is that even though this world offers so much to draw our attention away from God and His fight for righteousness, He is still the Head Coach, He is still calling all the plays, His team is still number one, and if we want to be part of this winning team, we need to prioritize our life to set our future. Eternity is real. It is eternal. The Super Bowl is temporary, its worth is temporary, the winning team this year is temporary, I think it is time to make our choices with our hearts and not our minds. I think it is time to chose to be on the winning team, the eternal one. You think about it.
