I am absolutely thrilled and proud of my SIL the soon to be published author John Kotzian.I will let his quotes that I am copy / pasting from facebook explain what the book will be about.
"Sky Pilot of he Great Lakes: A biography of the Rev. William H. Law
"Just got the word that my book is slated for a May release. I was hoping for March but May works too. 2014 go!"
" Non-fiction, Historical Biography of the life and works of my Great-great-grandfather who sailed the Great Lakes visiting the men and women of the Life-saving and lighthouse services. He also worked to lobby congress for better pay and pensions for these people ultimately culminating in the passage of the Coast Guard act of 1915. (to make a long story short)
" I basically turned over every stone I could think of. Most of them had nothing under it. I took the names of descendants from the family tree and googled/facebooked them - if they responded I told them what I was trying to do and asked if they had any artifacts that were handed down. I found Chuck Law Jr. Who knew W. H. (his Granddad) when he was a child and interviewed him. Searched Govt. Archives, Private archives, library collections, newspaper archives, historical societies, Church archives, museums and anything I could think of that might turn something up. Research took about a year and a half then the info started to run out - but I had enough to tell the story. Then we added a section of letters he wrote that I had found and one from his wife (thanks to Chuck!) and a section of stories W. H. Law wrote about witnessing shipwrecks and stories of lives of the lifesavers. What photos i could gather from various sources were added then photos of some of the various locations mentioned in the book. Had a map created to outline some of the places and added Lighthouse and USLSS log mentions of him as well.
Hey,hey,hey,did I mention how proud I am ?
