First it was just cold, then a little rain and about noon it started sleeting. Now we have about 1" of sleet and it's still coming down.

All schools were closed early to get the kids home, as were most if not all businesses in the area. Nothing going on tonight and most activites and many businesses are already announcing that they will be closed tomorrow.

According to what I'm seeing, they expect the sleet to continue throughout the night, along with some freezing rain and then several inches of snow, up to 8" tomorrow. It should all end about 6:00 p.m. tomorrow but it will be very cold for several days.

They are expecting power losses in places unfortunately. We'll hope that they are wrong at least about that.

I hope all of you are warm and safe this evening. I know this is a very wide spread storm. Please stay in if you can.

Thanks,
Clark

Our son called last night and said it was 76 in SC yesterday. It was 16 here this morning and snow has really started falling very fast. I have no idea how much is on the ground at our place but it's several inches already with more to come all day.

Thanks,
Clark

I went out just a while ago to take a look at the roof and it's a good thing I did. The vent pipes for methane gas were covered. We have upwards of 3' of snow in places on the roof and it's still coming down. I was able to clear the pipes and may have to get back up there and get rid of some of that snow later.

They are still predicting 8" to 12" of snowfall for us but I'd say here, that may be an understatement.

Stay warm and safe out there.

Thanks,
Clark

It was -2 here this morning. I just came down from the roof where I removed up to 3 feet and more of snow from most of the south side. There are some deep drifts but we have at least a foot to 14" of snow everywhere, on top of at least 1" of ice.

We are also supposed to have more freezing rain here tomorrow. I certainly hope they are wrong about this but they were right on the money about this storm.

Stay warm and safe out there.

Thanks,
Clark

Tail Feathers

There are a lot of fine things about the northern portion of our country.
That kind of weather isn't one of them. :o

Stay warm!

This is very unusual weather for us this far south in Illinois. I hope this is not the beginning of a weather change for us.

No sign of the freezing rain this morning. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Thanks,
Clark

I know. It's certainly not my favorite thing and you're right about the recent hospital time. I looked at the north side just a while ago and it may just have to stay as it is.

The ground looks a long way down from up there and the surface is much harder if I were to fall. I'll just hope the weight is not too much and that we get some thawing soon.

Clark
