Thinking of items I'll need this Spring and a good pair of boots, is one of them. Mainly looking for a good quality waterproof boot, where as insulation is not that important, need a good running and gunning boot. Got good rubber boots and hate them for covering ground, only use them on very wet mornings with short walks.

I had the Rocky Lynx boot, which worked well until I walked the sole off, as it seperated from the boot after 2 years, done with Rocky. Right now I'm looking at UA Speedfreaks or the UA Browtine. Both are waterproff as the Browtines have a little insulation, and the Speedfreaks do not. Any opinions on these 2 boots, or another that will suit my needs, no rubber boots, Thanks

Been rocky boots for 20 years up until the last  5, they're just not made to last anymore, I can wear a rubber boot for the amount of miles I put on them. 2 years ago, with alot of reservation I bought a pair if gortex 16" cabelas snake boots, can't say enough good about them, they don't leak, lite weight and have help up to ALOT of walking

"around here, turkey hunting is more like a religion than a pastime.getting close to nature, getting back to where we most belong is something we hold sacred.when we do get to take one home, we do so with reverence"

Many of these boot threads go heavy toward recommending Danner pronghorns or a similar Danner boot.
I don't have Danners but I've had good luck with my Cabela 8" uninsulated boots.  They were waterproof the first year, not very much any more but they are comfortable and light.  I've put quite a few miles on them over the past three or four years.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

I just got done hunting quail in a really remote area of southern California.....Its steep, rocky, and slippery from all of the lime stone. Now I have had Rocky,Wolverin, Red Head and Irish Shetters for boots and only the upland game moc toe from Irish Setters have been great. I have had a lot of different styles from each brand. But I just bought a pair of Danner pronghorns are they are okay....But I think the Danner Ridgemasters are the ticket, American made and probably wont hurt my ankle from the rivet. Since the pronghorns are made overseas.

Since I walk many a mile chasing gobblers, I typically like the more light weight hiking boots.  Last season was the last for some wore out Merrell's I had; hoping Santa is bring me some Twin River Hikers from Cabelas.

I like the Lacrosse Burleys.  Don't eat my socks, waterproof, and snakeproof.

I hunt turkey in about as rought and rugged country as there is...Mts of WV,,with that being said save up your hard earned cash and buy a pair of Kenetreck,,,, Made in Italy and sold by Kenetrek
in Boseman Mt...
3 pair of Rockies,,,and 5 pair of Danners will not hold a candle to a pair of Kenetrek Mt Extremes...$389 is a pile for a pair of boots,,,,but they are worth every penny,,,stong, best gripping sole I have ever used..Have 3 years on my uninsulated pair and they are as good as new,,,that is about 200 days of hard hunting in them. They are also the most comfortable boot I have ever had on...I put off buying them for 2 years,,,MISTAKE,,,,you cant go wrong!!

The Cohutta Strutter

Another Danner Jackal 11 fan. Lightweight, waterproof, snakeproof and have held up well after 2 years of fall and spring hunting. They are ideal for turkey hunting!
Anybody seen America lately?

I had several springs worth of good hunting in a pair of Danner Pronghorns (still have them). Last year it was time for a new pair and I decided to try a pair of the new Havocs from Irish Setter.

So far I'm super impressed with them! Supremely comfortable, lightweight and no leaks!  :icon_thumright:
