Just an idea about polishing/seasoning a shotgun bore.

I am writing in regards to polishing shotgun bores. As i stated before i am not exactly a newbie when it comes to shotguns or any other gun for that matter, i have shot/handled many makes and brands of firearms but until about 2 years ago i had the shotgun is just a shotgun mentality! But once i started playing around with different chokes, loads ect. I really had my eyes opened! Until joining this forum i never even thought about polishing a shotgun bore, but it really does work! Now its got me thinking, my true love has always been blackpowder rifles and i have used products on my blackpowder rifles that season the bore somewhat like you would a cast iron skillet. You use it in the bore and when the gun is fired, the heat actually lets the lube penetrate the metal and after a couple outings the bore is seasoned. I shoot saboted bullets out of my inline rifles that i have seasoned over time and now i can actually just push the plastic residue out with a dry patch, no scrubbing! Also all fouling wipes right out. These are guns that i shot before seasoning, and i had to scrub them with a brush to remove all plastic residue (very unpleasant job at times)! Has anyone ever tried any of these products in their shotgun bores? Thompson center makes a good one that i use exclusively now, it is called bore butter. I would think that high volume shooters would see the most advantage with this, but who knows maybe we all could benefit! Maybe its a dumb idea, i just figure id throw it out there.
