Harvesting Donuts for bear hunting

I've been talking to a local donut shop owner about picking up their donuts at the end of the day for bear bait to use this fall.  I went by and bought some donut holes this morning and asked him when I might pick up some donuts.  He told me to stop by at 12:45 when he is ready to close and he would give me some.  I took a big garbage bag and showed up when he said.  He pulled all of the trays out of his case and the shelves behind the counter and dumped them one after the other into my big bag... about 30 pounds of donuts!  I ask if I might come by once a week.  He said "how 'bout every day?"   :o  He said sometimes he has more, sometimes he has less, but at 12:45 every weekday, whatever is on the trays goes in the garbage.

I think I just hit the donut Mother Lode!

Half a day old donuts every day for free!  I'd be as wide as the side of the house.

My thought exactly. The temptation would just be to strong not to eat them......

This place is a regional franchise.  The gentleman I deal with is Asian and very pleasant.  Since I work at Pizza Hut some evenings (after my day job), I'm taking him and the family a pizza for lunch when I go to pick up today's outcasts.  ;)  My dad picked them up for me yesterday and promised him some venison.  He seems more than happy to see them put to use.
