Reduction in felt recoil using Blackhack knoxx stock?

I have a Mossberg 835 Ultimag and shoot hevi 13 3 1/2" #7's.  It has a significant amout of recoil.  A member on another forum said his Blackhawk Knoxx stock  reduces recoil to that of a 20 guage.

Can anyone on here verify that?  What are your opinions of the stock?

Just put one on my 835 but have yet to fire it.  I doubt it takes it down to 20 gauge level, but that would be nice.

I don't know about anyone else's experience , but a good friend of mine put one on his 835. I shot it and actually thought it made it worse. Not so much in the shoulder, but in the face. It needs a cheek pad to tame down the face slap. We were shooting 2 1/4 oz 3.5 inch win high velocity shells. In my honest opinion , I think it's virtually impossible to stop those mossbergs from hammering ya.

I have the Knoxx RR on my 870 SM.  It significantly reduces the felt recoil on your shoulder.  I have shot the Win. Supreme HV 3.5" 2oz. (hardest kicking rounds I have ever shot) through numerous guns with standard stocks and sure shot.  The knoxx is much better.  The only problem is if you really pin your face to the stock you can get a pretty good smack.  Also, since the gun moves rearward into the knoxx stock, the movement is sharp enough that my trigger finger slams into the front of the trigger guard.  That hurts more than the recoil, but you can learn to hold the gun in a way to minimize that problem.  I would buy another knoxx stock.

It will reduce the recoil quite a bit, not sure it's as low as a 20ga but it will be noticeably lower. If you are having problems with cheek slap you can adjust the length of pull to fit better, or install the power pak.
Depending on your mount you may have to adjust it to allow the stock to collapse correctly without pinching you or getting scope eye.

And does the powerpak completely eliminate the face slap, or just help a little? Or is it mostly just to get your eye up to optics level?

It will help with cheek slap in that it will raise your cheek up higher inline with your optics, and point your face more horizontal. Adjusting your length of pull will probably help the most though with cheek slap.

I shot my 835 today with the Win HV 3.5/2/5 and the stock did take quite a bit of the hammer out.  It felt more like a 3" gun recoil than a 3.5".  My POI was right on also, it put 72 in the 10" @ 48yds.

The cheek slap some people are getting is due to to much cheek pressure on the stock. My 870 came with one and in the box knoxx gave a warning not to put to much cheek pressure or you what get " cheek slap". I practiced with bird shot until I figured out how much pressure was needed and I've never had the problem again. Not sure if it reduces it to 20 gauge levels but it does take a lot out. Hope this helps.
