First off I need it drilled/tapped, who would yall recommend? I am planning on buying one of the Burris FF3's, and since I have to have mine drilled/tapped, which mounting option would yall choose. I want it as low as possible, since I am gonna be using a steady grip stock without a raised comb. I have been looking through a lot of the old post, and I would also like to use one of the guards also made for the Burris optic. Would appreciate yalls opinions and pictures would be great!

Thanks

Definately go with a 336 base/mount...very clean and low down on the gun.  As far as drill & tap it all depends on where you are....Sumtoy Customs(William) did a great job on the last one I had done.

Best of luck!!!

Thanks, did you have a SBE1 drilled/tapped? Have heard some bad experiences with D/T the SBE's. Does Sumtoy do any trigger work? How about Rob Robertson? Would yall recommend him?

I had a Remington done last....Rob Roberts is the Benelli man, I have had some barrel work done from him and he was good to deal with.  Maybe send it to him for drill & tap.  He does the Benelli performance work so that should an easy job for him.

Contacted Rob Roberts about drilling and tapping and they use a Warne 2 piece steel base (only using the rear section) and say that it is clean looking under a Burris FF3. I have not read anyone else using this combonation and am curious if it allows the FF to be mounted as low as the Marlin 336??

Pictures would be great if anyone would care to share!

Thanks

Burris 336, not Marlin 336? Am I correct in this?

That is the route i took with my benelli (although its a vinci).I ended up modifying a warne 1 pc base to a 2 pc then used the rear pc to mount a bushnell trs 25 on it.Works great, but i could have saved myself alot of work by just getting the 2 pc to begin with!It sits pretty low,but i don't know how low in comparison to the Burris ff on the same mount.
