for you 835 guys

im gonna buy a 835 tactical with the 24 inch barrel turkey gun. ive always been a 870 sm man but im gonna buy a mossy an fix it up jus to have something else to hunt with. i shoot hevi 7s through my 870 which I also have a burris ff3 on it. wouldn't mind sticking with this combo but would like to try a rhino/nitro combo in the 835. whats a better combo out of yalls 835? hevi 7s or nitros

Well I'm perfectly content with the pattens I get out of me 835 28" barrel and Star Dot .676 choke using Hevi-13 3.5" 2.25oz #7's at 40yds.  I haven't ever used Nitros, and I do know from the patterns I have seen from guys that use them they are very good loads.  But they are also very expensive, and they don't offer you up to $20 in rebates each year like Hevi-Shot does.  And I also know that very few if any are turning in better patterns with their 835's and the same size 2.25oz #7 Nitro loads as I'm getting as well as others with the Hevi-13 #7's.  Now that don't mean that it can't happen, but I know a few guys that were shooting the Nitros in either straight 7's or 4x5x7 loads that after seeing some of my patterns and what others have obtained using the Hevi-13 3.5" #7's that are making the switch from Nitros and to the Hevi-13's #7's.  And you get to save $20 on buying 2 boxes with the rebates.  But it's up to anyone and what they want to shoot.  Both are very good choices.

It will be hard not to get a good hunting pattern shooting hevi 7s. It really depends on if you are chasing big numbers or just want a good hunting pattern. If you want the big numbers go with a ssx, if you want a good hunting pattern then almost any choke will do it. I got a killer 230 hit pattern with a mad max .695 and hevi 7s. I hunt with hevi 6s but understand the want to just buy one load. Good luck!

Set up my son's 935 and my 835 last season.  Indian Creek .675 on my son's 935 and Pure Gold .670 on the 835 using Hevi 7 / 3 1/2" in both guns.  One gun shot 344 in the 10" at 40 and the other was just slightly less.  Don't remember which gun shot the higher numbers.  Got Burriss FF II's on both guns.  Polished the barrels of both guns.
