Ok guys after getting my second pot from pappy ( unrelated but he is a stand up guy all around) I am hooked on pot calls. I love the versatility of them right behind them are box calls and of course diaphragms. So here is my question I currently have a slate/slate in walnut nd a glass/glass in quilted maple. The glass has nice high pitch with great break over and the slate is a bit deeper with amazing purrs. So what is another combo with good mids and highs. Thinking about contacting me sneed for a hot hen. For strikers I have a Purple Heart and I am unsure of the one pappy sent me. I can't remember why he said it was. So what are some other popular strike as well thanks for the info hoping to pick it up before I head to nc.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Me personally I love a good slate call. They are easy to run and sound great. I have every sruface but ceramic. I like them all ,aluminum sounds good and i really like copper to, not a whole lot of birds here a copper call it can be deadly. As far as strikers go i like a good hickory, walnut or purpleheart on slate. Hickory to me sounds good on any call.

Im sure you will get lots of opinions, but Ill add mine.  Im a pot call fanatic, and my favorite top 3 choices are always ceramic, crystal, and copper.  I have others, but I get more realism from those 3.  Crystal has that nasally barking rasp and copper has good rasp and volume, and ceramic plays like a slate (easy to purr on, etc. ) but sounds more energetic and exciting.  All three have good range of volume as well and will play loud or tone down for softer stuff.

Strikers,

Diamondwood, Osage, Persimmon, just to name a few of my favortites.
