I've had my son hunting for 3yrs now. My mother-in-law wasn't happy and really not happy I bought him his first 20ga turkey thumper at the age of 5 but oh well, it what it is and he's my son ;D I first tried the open choke using just the shotgun front bead hoping to keep his shot around 20yds. We did just that but he ended up missing a 3 birds :( So I went out and upgraded his gun to a Kick's tube, Vital Gear Ghost ring and a shorter shooting stick.

Now as you can see in the not so great photo below that his new sight system it sits low to the rib vent making my son having to stay down on the gun. I'm not looking at it like he should aim it but my thought were it should work. The front bead looks huge but it really not and there's plenty of room for the target whether it's the head or neck of the gobbler. My son knows from shooting that he needs to have to front bead in the bottom of the ring and the gobblers head or neck in the ghost ring.

I thought it worked great in teaching my son and could help other young kids to stay down on the gun with an easy reference point. White bead bottom of green circle and gobblers head in ring :icon_thumright: As I said above, he's missed 3 birds prior to this set up so I feel seeing he numbed his first long beard on his first shot this year...it's corrected something without spending a ton of money on a scope or red dot system ;D I have nothing against scopes or red dot sights. I just didn't want issue of getting his head up off the stock to see them or anything with batteries for his set up.

Usually you sight with the front bead or post centered in the ring. The way you view the sights and target will allow lining everything up quickly without thinking.

Congrats on the turkey.

I've been using another brand of that style sight for years. I love them on flat ribbed guns like beretta, Remington, and weatherby s. Had issues with them on raised ribs like Benelli and Stoeger. He should do fine with it.

The base should have should screws holes that allow left to right adjustment and for elevation you slide it forward or rear on the barrel. Once set it is hard to be for a non electronic sight.

Good luck.
