I was wondering if anyone else uses Houndstooth diaphragms? I came across them this year and bought a couple, they quickly became my go to calls! Just seeing what other calls you guys compare these to?

Andy S.

Over the years I have ordered and used a lot of different diaphragms, but these days I use Houndstooth and Hooks. You cannot go wrong with either.

If I had saved all the money I spent on hunting, I'd spend it on hunting.

Agreed!

We don't have anywhere that carries Hooks around here, but everyone seems to like them. I may order a couple if y'all have any suggestions?

I agree. They are both super nice guys and make awesome calls!

That's all I use. Lyle makes great calls. Best I've ever run.

Lyle makes a great diaphram that's for sure.  All I've used for a couple seasons now, and a heck of a guy to just BS with.  Never seen him a day in my life, but I'd gladly share a tree in the turkey woods with him.

You can tell he really cares what his calls sound like, not what they look like (not that they look bad, just never seen anyone fixated on the right sound like him before).

His tubes are pretty awesome too, and hopefully soon I'll be trying one of his pots out to go with them.

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

I can vouche that he shoots straight. He is a trip to hunt with.

i guess i can share my story about the houndstooth calls. if you want just the opinion of the HT, skip to the last part of the paragraph!

im very finicky when it comes to mouth calls. ive never been able to run one too well. i felt like none fit my mouth so i got a quakerboy mini mag. no go. the foam instead of tape just couldnt do it for me

about a month ago i picked up a woodhaven copperhead. everyone said it was awesome. i ran it for a few days, and it did sound alright, but its super raspy to my ear. clucks and cutts sound good, but yelping seems so raspy its almost not realistic to me... of course the turkeys are what matter, not me, but my 2 pennies.

so then i grabbed all my old calls out and cleaned them. they arent in the best shape, but i wanted an around about. from woodhaven, i have a classic v3, a older blue tape with yellow latex thats ghost cut and a red wasp. the wasp was super raspy. didnt like it. the v3 sounded decent but it was coming apart. the blue call sounded good, but the latex was super stretched so that was all a failure.

i had heard some about the tom teaser stuff so i picked up a cracked corn and a call girl. i loved the cracked corn and the call girl sounds nice as well.

the rest of my calls were junk so i got to reading and found out about houndstooth.
well, today i went and picked up a tom bomb because i had a couple guys recommend it and wow, i love this call. the TT cracked corn is a hair more mellow or deeper, but the tom bomb is very popping and raspy. it was definitely what i was looking for in a mouth call and they feel great as well. definitely going to be the go to calls when season gets here!

You made a great choice, mine came in and are AWESOME. Easy to run and the sounds that I like to hear. The all pro three is a good'un and so is the cutter style call with the black latex (I call it she devil) LOL

Good Luck and God Bless
