Ive got a mossberg 535 waterfoul and turkey combo and I'm having trouble getting it to pattern well with any lead load. Ive shot both barrels and roughly same results. I shot my 24 in turkey barrel a few days ago with the thug 3in 5s only had 99 in the ten in at 30yrds shot taken with a( .655 kicks GT) to me that's not a very good pattern. Ive got the .670 factory choke and a .655 kicks Gt but i have yet to find a load/ choke combo that this gun likes. i wont even think about taking a 40yrd shot because of my patterns being so poor at 30yrds. Any suggestions on what i could try to improve my patterns?

Use #6 shot, #5's and 4's are hard to get a good pattern sometimes. #6's might be an eye opener. I have a 535 with a 20" bbl and I am getting around 115 in 10" @ 40yds with winchester 3-1 7/8-#6 gray box. Make sure you are shooting a large target to see where your point of impact is. I use 3ft wide masking paper behind my targets on a sheet of osb to see where the majority of my pattern is to make adjustments if necessary. 670 factory choke works great in mine. Hope this helps.

Find something in a .665.  That might be what you need.

I'd try running #6's in the .650 to .665 range, and #5's in the .660 to .670 range.

I'm using a truglo gobble stopper .665 in mine. With winchester 3.5 2oz #6 shot i get between 150 and 160 hits in a 10" circle at a lasered 42 yards.

Try a Jellyhead .660. I had the same gun with 20" barrel, and got good results with 3-2-6 hevi-13.
