Benelli steadygrip installation?

Ok, two quick questions for you guys with steay grips on your benelli guns. Do you leave the shims in when you put the stock on? Second, how important is the little rubber piece that goes between the stock and the trigger guard. I have a SBEII, and the stock I got has a curved lip on the front, that looks like it should mate up to the trigger guard, but even without the shims in, there is still a small gap there. I looked on benelli's web site, and the Advantage Timber is the only stock with that lip, the other two camo patterns they offer in the steady grip don't have that little lip, and are just flat. I didn't get the rubber with my stock, or otherwise I would just try it to see if it fit. Thanks for the help!

I have the apg-hd camo steady grip stock and it came with the rubber trigger guard spacer/filler so I used it (looks better). When mounting up the stock I used only the stock spacer that was mounted up with my sbeII inertia stock but I had to reverse it so the tabs would lock in the steady grip stock.

I just put on a steady grip on my supernova.  I didn"t put any shims with it.  I wondered about the same thing.   Mine came with the little rubber piece but I'm not sure what purpose it serves?  I have apg camo.  I can send u a pic if u want me to? sorry for the typing. I'm typing with a cast on. lol
