Fan Question

How have you found the best way to make a fan open and close to hunt with.  I try to make one from a natural fan to make it spread and open easy.  Fresh ones off dead birds work great but would like to find one to do this with full time.

I seem to recall a kit of sorts that uses your feathers.Don't recall too much about it though.Sorry.
