I just purchased a mossberg 535 turkey thug and an indian creek
Black diamond strike choke. Anyone tell me what the best load is for this setup?
Thanks.

Not sure about the 535 but shoot one in a 835 and a Browning BPS and I shoot Winchester Xtended Range # 5 and the 835 has a 20" barrel and has taken birds out to 60 yards with no problem! That is the best choke I have ever used in 20 years

I know we are talking two different guns but my super x2 loves the Indian creek with 3.5" Nitros

I can't say if it will be the best load in your gun, but my 535 Tactical Turkey with 20" barrel really came alive once I switched to H-13 shells.     I'm using a .660" Indian Creek choke and Hevi 3-2-7 shells.

I have tested numerous choke/ load combos, and my current selection is far and away the best performing in my gun.

I've got my 535 set up with an Indian Creek.  I get a really nice patterns with H13 3.5" Magblends and 3.5" H13 7's

Thanks everyone for your help I tried the magnum blend today and it was great at thirty. But only had maybe 7 in vitals at 40. With magnum blend 4,5,6

My 535 and Indian Creek doesn't like Mag Blends.  I was getting in the 280's with 3.5" Hevi #7's at 40 yards.

I wouldn't worry about shooting those vital targets.    Aim for a dot at 30 yards and then draw a 10" circle around the densest part of the pattern.   Count the pellet hits and note it on the target.    Adjust your sights so the dense part of the pattern is centered over the point of aim.     Shoot again and note that pellet count in the 10" circle.

Rule of thumb is a minimum of 100 pellets in a 10" circle at any given range.   If your 30 yard count is good, step back to 35 yards and shoot it again.   Keep doing this in 5 yard increments until your no longer able to consistently put 100 pellets in the10" circle.

Im going to take that approach tomorrow thanks

Shooting a 535 with indian creek choke. After dialing in at 40 yrds. I shot it at the 50 yrd range of the bench at the gun club just to see the results. When I got home I covered the most hits with a 12inch plate. 144 hits shooting nitro 4,5,7. It also likes h13 #6 however it doesnt pattern as well with H13 mag blends.
Thanks, RP
