"For the word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are saved it is the power of God. ...but we preach Christ crucified..." (1 Corinthians 1:18, 23).

Until people are lead by God the Holy Spirit to see themselves as lost, they simply cannot see how wise and indispensable the cross of Jesus Christ is for their salvation.  The cross is the believer's power in all situations.  It is the wisest message anyone can hear and believe.  God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.

The power and wisdom of the cross is made especially clear when death approaches us.  When we lift our eyes to the cross on our death bed, we see the Lord's mercy and compassion.  The outstretched arms of Jesus on the cross reach out to embrace us.  The cross is our guarantee of a safe passage to heaven.  When we breathe our last breath, we know that our eternal destiny lies in the wisdom of that cross.

This is why the true Christian Church will always preach Christ and Him crucified.  May God give His Church's pastors, teachers, and members the boldness and clarity to declare this wisdom of God at every opportunity.

The evil world will do its best to silence this message.  It will threaten, bully, and assault  Christ's Church.  But we, like St. Paul, remain steadfast in God's power -Jesus' cross.

We live and die in the power of the cross!
