Hello all.......I am looking to purchase a DSD submissive hen and either the Strutter or Jake decoy. Which do you prefer? I know of a local around my area that is using the Strutter with the submissive hen and have been flat killing some turkeys the last couple years......thanks in advance for your response :thanks:.....

I've always liked a Strutter with a real Jake tail fan. That's worked for me most of the time.

IMO the Upright Hen & Jake ! Later in the season and things start greening up the upright hen is more noticeable. Especially in big fields !

First let me say, I really like strutter decoys. I had a Pretty Boy long before I ever heard of DSD, and I used it right up until the DSD strutter came out. I've had a lot of success and a lot of fun using strutters.

Having said that, and as someone who owns both the DSD strutter and jake, I would recommend getting the jake. I have put both in my spread at the same time, and every single time birds will walk around the strutter to get to the jake first. The strutter is a great decoy, but the DSD jake drives them nuts. I have had birds shy off from strutter decoys in the past, I have never had that happen with the DSD jake.

This.  Most every tom will move in on a jake.  Many toms will shy away from a big tom.

I like them both , but if it were up to me and I had to pick 1 it would be the strutter ,the primary reason is that it is more visible  - I hunt Primarily in Florida and the gobblers zero right in for it

The jake really pisses them off too and Ive seen them want to fight it like crazy

The Jake is very easy to tote around in a bag
