This year is going to be a short turkey season for me i have too many things scheduled in April this year.. (not my choice). So i am considering trying to drive south and try my luck on some unfamiliar WMA. i am considering driving to Sam Murphy or Mulburry Fork and get in on the earlier season dates. between now and march 15th i am going to drive to both of these and scout/ get my barrings strait on these WMA. its only about 2 hours away.

I dont want any of you guys to tell me where your honey holes are but i would like some info on these WMA. any info would be helpful. So id like to chat with some of you guys that have hunted these places. email or some phone conversations.

thanks for the help

Hello! I hunted Mulberry for many years before it was a WMA. Stay close to the river and look for flats along the ridge tops. Also, wear snake boots. You will be glad you did! Be prepared to walk long distances from the gates as the birds close to the roads get harassed regularly. Have fun!

There are birds on mulberry if you work for em. Not so sure about the turkey pop in lamar county. I've never hunted up there.

Both these WMAs have very good bird populations. And lots of hunters. Expect weekends to be wall to wall. Best during the week.
