ff3 for 870

well ive decided to go with a fast fire 3 to go on my 870. im gonna get it drilled an tapped but my question is whats the best rail to put on my 870 for the ff3? and does the ff3 have the guard around it like it does for the ff2? any input is appreciated

I think I sent this to you in your PM but here it is again for anyone else that has the same question. 

Buy whatever pic rail you want.  I don't think there's one better than the other.  If you are using a pic rail then order the FF without the mount and then also order the picatinny protector mount.  Then you'll have everything you need.

Is a pic rail the same as a standard weaver base. I'm in the same boat and don't know what I need to have installed on my 870 when I have it drilled and tapped.

The specs of the width and depth of the cross slots are different between a picatinny and a weaver rail.  The picatinny is deeper and wider so not all pic mounts will fit on a weaver rail.  The FF mounts will fit on both.
