Thank God for my Wife (a deer hunting story)

Hi Guys

If you have a good woman in your life give thanks to God for her. My brother and I were planning our weekly Office Appointment ( AKA Deer Hunting ) and my brother and Dad asked if my wife Denise wanted to go. My Dad offered to stay and watch the kids the following morning and my wife said yes. Normally in december she is about done with hunting but this time she wanted to go. Also my dad and brother dont offer to watche the kids too often and she accepts so this was a unique experience. So we were to go hunting friday morning, for various reasons, kids , neighbors etc I didnt sleep well at all that night and if it were not for my wife wanting to go I probably would have cancelled but I gutted it out for her on about 2-3 hours of sleep. all coming broken 30 mins here or there. Turns out the weather is drizzly rain on and off and my brother almost called it off too but we went ahead and hunted. This year on the state land we hunt has been rough, Corn field across the street cut deer movement dramatically and even after it came down just before gun season itwas still slow, after gun season seeing deer is usually very tough because of the immense pressure this area recieves. I had just checked my cell phone at 845 am as the rain started to pickup, I was not soaking yet but was thinking if it gets any worse I am gonna get soaked, I was wondering how my wife was fairing in her ground blind and thinking if it stayed that way it was about time to go. thankfully it backed off again to just a light rain/drizzle when I heard something behind me. I see a good buck near running through the brush , he zigs and zags as i got my dads crossbow to my shoulder hoping he comes my way he ends up running right in front of me at 5 yards and I let it fly, I hit him back of where i wanted to but hit him none the less. I was worried he might be gut shot, so i got my stuff and eased out of there. Worried that the rain might wipe away the trail but not wanting to chase a possible gut shot too quickly, I got my wife and then my brother, he tells me a he thinks a deer fell not far from his stand but wasnt sure. we went back to the truck and put our stuff away except one crossbow in case a follow up shot was needed. We recovered my bolt and it had good blood on it and boy was I excited to see red bubbles. After a 150ish yard tracking job we had this state land buck. Pics dont do him justice the mass around between the brows and the G2s is 4 inches, for state land this is the best buck I have seen in almost 20 years. We figure he was about 200 lbs, my doe was 165 and he was a lot bigger. We have shot a couple of 2 1/2 year olds out here and think he was probably 3 1/2.

Made even better by having this little lady with me, if not for her I may not have gone out.

Nice buck and great job on finding/tracking him on a rainy/drizzly(is that a word ???)day. It's good to see a smile in a "hero" picture(it seems as most people think you shouldn't smile ???). Congrats!!
