need some camera help

Went to the hospital last week for a small surgery, was there all day, when i got home i discovered that my home had been burglarized. my cameras were taken and my camcorder, also three rifles were gone out of my vault, must have been a moron there were 30 other weapons in there, cross bows, compond bows, ammo. I need to get a new camera for my calls need some recommendation on a new one.

Sorry to hear about the break in. 
My daughter has a Nikon L810.  It has 26x optical zoom and takes incredible pictures.  You can get one for under $300.  She takes pictures of everything from bugs and flowers to doing senior pictures for some high school friends.  It takes good enough pictures that she has had 3 requests to do weddings and several more friends that are asking her to do their senior pictures.
She just picked out her Christmas present - an upgrade to a Cannon Rebel t3.  It was $500, so she kicked in over half.  I love it when my kids have a job!
