Pegs for soundboard?

I'm new to call making so bear with me. When you go to set your soundboard what do you use for the pegs and how do you attach them?  Also, how much space should there be between the edge of the soundboard and the inside of the pot?  Thanks in advance.

When I turn a pot, the pedestals are turned into the pot.
