"I shall not want"  Psalm 23:1

"I want, I want, I want...."  is a human mantra!

So when we read King David's confident statement of truth... "I shall not want"... we're struck by the contrast.  In effect, he's writing, "I shall want nothing."  He needs nothing because the Lord is his Shepherd.  Ultimately, he's saying, "I have everything."

David,  the shepherd, the king, the giant slayer,  recognized a wealth that's based on faith in the true God of the Bible.  And David,  the adulterer, the murderer, the liar, the betrayer,  recognized a wealth base on God's forgiveness and mercies.  The Lord blessed David when he repented of his sins.

David tells us that "those who fear [the Lord] have no lack!... Those who seek the Lord lack no good thing"  (Psalm 29: 9-10).

Do we whine selfishly, "I want!"  or do we say with confidence, "I have every good thing?"

To those redeemed in Jesus Christ, St. Paul writes, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ..."

WOW!    At this moment I'm sadly thinking of those who think they don't need what the God and Father of Jesus Christ has to offer them through His only-begotten Son.

You know many of these people.  Pray for them today, that they may receive the spiritual riches of heaven in Christ.  May their wants be satisfied through Jesus, so they may confidently declare in the Lord, "I lack no good thing."
