I appreciate her views of hunting and the merits of eating what we hunt.  However, as a farm kid, former high school agriculture teacher, and current agricultural education doctoral student, I do not agree with her broad sweeping statements about agriculture.  She makes it sound as if agriculture and those involved are monsters who care nothing of the environment.

I could go on, but I won't.

Genesis 27:3 - Now then, get your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

I dunno dude.  The guys I grew up with that farmed 100's or 1000's of acres didn't.  Maybe things have changed?  I'm glad you care and are teaching others to care.

I am going to agree with jblackburn on this one. I know that myself and others that I farm with do care.
Jakes are like scotch. They are not worth a darn until they age.

The three name chick is still a left wing lib from NY. If she thinks farmers are cruel monsters, she really is nuts. I have more respect for farmers than any other American. Where else in the world does 2% of the population feed the world, only in America. If she really wanted to do something good, she needs to go back to NY and convince more of her leftwing wacko friends to join her in firearm ownership and harvesting critters for enjoyment.   Blah, blah, blah, blah!

I agree that she is off base about farmers and agricultural practices, but I am proud of her for taking a stand on hunting/eating wild game that is not often embraced by the usual liberal New York kind of readers. She is honest enough to change her admittedly long-held and incorrect view of hunters, and is doing so by not just engaging in simple lip service, but by actually participating in the full gamut of hunting, killing and processing wild game.

Maybe she needs to have a farmer compassionately show her what he actually does, in the same way that a hunter showed her what he does. I believe that she would be open to changing her views about farming as well.

Good for her.

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

:agreed: She changed her mind on the hunting aspect, so she could possibly change her mind on farming as well.

Guys, around here the small farmers might respect the land, but the commercial farmers dont.  Intensive chemical applications, wall to wall crops with no buffer strips, very little no till practices.  I am not against farmers at all, but to say they are environmentally sound is not true at all.
