Leopardwood is generally much more dense and heavier than lacewood.  I have leopardwood in my shop that has small fleck in the grain, honestly about the size of a pin head.  I have another piece of leopardwood that has long stripes of fleck that are 1/4" wide by about 2 1/2" long.  You really can't go by the size of the fleck in the grain.  The lacewood I bought years ago did have more of a pink tint to the fleck in the grain, where leopardwood has more of a tan color in the fleck.  Leopardwood also generally has somewhat of a waxy feel to it.  Lacewood when turned will be almost a powder rather than a fine chip like leopardwood.  Hope this helps a bit.

Helpef alot and your were right i was worried about the initial first look of tge wood as opposed to what i had seen but after turning it i could tell it wasnt lace wood then sanding it i could tell a difference and when i put a clear coat on it it darkened up to where the spots are as dark as the primary color of lace wood and the primary color is dark close to walnut it made a sharp lookong copper pot to carry to the woods
