we"ve been watching some longbeards at the farm with some trail cameras so earlier this week we set out my Primos matrix blind, and today was the day. we were in it for the long run, had cooler with drinks, food, battery powered fan, lawn chairs. our appereal was one loong sleeve camo shirt, khaki shorts, yes i said shorts, and knee boots. no gobbles off the roost so it was time for the waiting game. had two jakes come in at 9:45am, come within 5 yards of blind we"re noticed. 10 am a gobbler gobbles about 150 yards away the jakes hauled
BUTT out of dodge. ol boss gobbler just sounded off and they were scared. i called to him aggressively and he gobbled away at crows, owls, trucks, trains. he was hot. then there was a 10minute silence from me and him both, then he slams a gobble down our ears at 30 yards. here he comes strutting spitting and drumming. my buddy had his first longbeard at 10:23 am, 7 yards. hes ruined for his first longebard. he shot the boss of the swamp. 10 1/2" beard, 1 3/8" hooked limbhanger spurs. bird is at taxidermist as we speaK.
