"I have been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).

The thought of kings and kingdoms brings to mind thoughts of monarchs with absolute power.  How different King Jesus is and the kingdom He brings.  Jesus came in utter meekness and lowliness unknown to the world's royalty.  He came to give Himself for His subjects, not to crush them with His demands.

By the life, suffering, and death of King Jesus, we are brought into His kingdom, that, through faith alone, we live in Him even as He lives in us.  To live in His kingdom is to die to sin through daily repentance, and to rise to life again through His daily forgiveness.  You have been crucified and raised with Christ. He died for your sin and rose to give you this new life.

You live that new life in Jesus' kingdom not by your religious works and good intentions, but by trusting the verdict of the King:  "Your sins are forgiven you" (Luke 5:20).  Where forgiveness in Christ is preached and taught, God is establishing His kingdom.  It is the only safe place for anyone who wants to be saved!

Ask Him to help you repent, and ask Him to increase your trust in His forgiveness.  He will answer.  Now live in His forgiveness and mercies!  That's why He earned them for you.

Dale,

Thanks for a great devotion!  I love starting the day with God's word like this.  There is no other King I would trust than Jesus!
