and Delta drags me to the Mountains of NE WA State for my annual Merriam's hunt.
To say I am fired up is an understatement.. I hope that the Red Gods smile on me and I am blessed with a good hunt.
My friend out there is walking a path that sadly I have walked. His wife has Breast Cancer. I am buying tags for three Gobblers and a Bear.. ( If we have success) it will be a bonus.
I pray for her complete recovery and good health in the future.
God had a great day when he created the mountains around Fruitland, WA..
I will count my many blessings when I stand over a White Tip...
Stand by for the play by play and hopefully some dead gobbler photos.
Of all the five subspecies I have been blessed to hunt, the WA Merriams are far and away my very favorite.
I have carefully selected my calls-
A Billy Buice Olivewood Trumpet, my Trusted Steve Mann paddle call, a Red beard Pot call, a Spring Allure Copper call and a couple of well used Rut n Strut Green Goofy batwing mouth calls..
My gun will be ol Faithful- The Bitch ( my Benelli M1) topped with a FF2 and choked with a .660 Rhino choke and some 2 oz Nitro Hevi 457s....
Good times await. I pray for good weather, strong lungs and legs.
I love Spring. (and hard Gobbling Merriams.)
