One down in Pa. and one to go.

I bagged a nice gobbler this morning at 1151 am. I cut it close on the time as we have to quit at 12 noon. I did'nt get out until almost 8am. I was returning to my Jeep at 945 to go somewhere else when I heard a gobbler shock gobble to a real crow. I set up and moved locations three times and threw every trick I could think of at him. I called him across a barbed wire fence on the ajoining property! At one point I could hear him "spit and drum" but could not see him. Finally after 2 hours and 6 minutes I dropped the hammer of my Benelli SBE on him at about 40 yards. What a RUSH to work a bird that long the old fashioned way. No blind or decoys! Best turkey hunt I have ever had. He weighed 19 3/4 pounds, had 3/4 spurs and a 9 1/2 inch beard. A good two year old. Not my biggest gobbler but man what a hunt! Call of choice, Wilbur Primos "True Triple" stacked frame (Piggyback) mouth call. Now I have another tag to fill but it will be hard to beat the hunt I just experienced. Thanks for reading. WTT

Great Job! After hunting this weekend, It seems the birds are very quiet on roost and early morning, but have heard the birds crank up around ten. Congrats, and way to get him in time!

Sounds like a great hunt! Congrats!
The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.
