Awesome way to honor your friend Joe. My turkey mentor has been gone eight springs now. I miss him.
On EVERY hunt, in one of the pockets in my vest, I carry his little Buck bird knife and a buckeye he gave me one morning after we both killed a Gobbler...
I hope I have a bunch of years ahead of me to hunt- I take a knee and thank God and Cliff every time I kill one. I think the Red Gods smile on a man who honors those who walked the path ahead of him.
Congrats on a great season.

First of all Joe,
CONGRATS
on yet another epic season.
Secondly, I'm sure Marvin would definitely approve of you toting his turkey slayer for as long as you'd like.
Think about it, your buddy's gun, another great season, and your "
best turkey ever
", it's a no brainer if you ask me.

Joe,
Congratulations on a great hunt and a great season. Very cool using your friend Marvin's 870 this season. Thanks for sharing your stories with us.
I haven't been able to get out much this season due to family and work commitments (although I did get one nice gobbler) so I've had to satisfy myself mainly with the Old Gobbler postings.
With all the turkeys I see running around non-huntable areas in the East Bay (3 today alone) its always nice to hear about successful Northern California hunts.
I haven't seen any other Northern California postings this year but the birds are certainly around. I wish I could have gotten out more (and am still eying Thursday on my calendar) but realistically I will just enjoy the stories from yourself and others this year.
Besides it is only 6 months to the Waterfowl and 7 months to the Fall Turkey seasons. Thanks again for sharing with us.

Congrats on an awesome season, Joe. That is a nice tribute for you to hunt with your buddy's gun.
