This morning I was able to get out and turkey hunt all by my lonesome for the first time this season. While I love that turkey hunting (unlike deer hunting) is a chance to hunt alongside my hunting partners. I had looked forward to getting out on my own. When hunting alone I always feel like I can be much more sneaky. I always set up much closer to gobbling birds when hunting alone. It was a little windy to start the morning but I had a bird gobbling pretty well off the roost. I was able to slip in very close. By 6:25 he strutted into the decoys and the game was over. Might be the best bird I have ever killed. 11" beard, spurs: 1.5"(nasty hook), 1 1/4", he weighed almost 25lbs. Here are some pics of my bird from this morning. I have a few more weeks of turkey hunting before I have three months of withdrawels to go through. God bless everyone and good luck in the woods!
