What's the deal with all you 20 gauge shooters using sights? I'm not trying to step on any toes with the question or start an argument but I have noticed a large majority of y'all shoot scopes, FF, speed beads ect. Is there something I am overlooking related to the 20's?

Old eyes.A lot of 12 and 10 gauge shooters use them too.

I have 20/10 vision so old eyes aren't a problem for me.   ;D  As tight as my 20ga patterns with TSS, it too easy to miss.  Plus POA and POI are vastly different on my gun.  With a red dot, you center and squeeze.  I don't want to have to think about Kentucky windage in the heat of the moment.

Let the little twenty EAT!!!!

cause the point of impact(poi)is so far off with the factory beads on most guns.i have 1 1187 that is dead on with the bead, another a sm that is way off,a sp10 that shoots high,an 1187 youth 20  that i can not even look down the full lenght of the rib,and a benelli 20 that is so far off with the bead im embarassed to say how far

My 20 combo is SUPER TIGHT at 15 yards.  I hate missing that close (or any distance)so the FF makes it easier to be precise.

Old eyes for me....turned 40 and my eyes left me  :(

I use them on all my guns. I cant shoot a bead worth a crap. I use the rifle sights to make sure im lined up.

I know if those three beads are lined up and I see that head behing them that bird is dead.

The better you can see your target the better you can shoot. Plus my eyes aren't what they used to be.
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!

surehuntsalot

shoot iron sights deer hunting (no scopes)
shoot fiber optic sights turkey hunting
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

IME a lot of times when you change any variable (i.e. choke, load) your POI will change and the tighter your patterns the more easily you can see it.

They also help, especially with kids, to keep the cheek in the correct place on the stock preventing them from looking over the bead and missing.

WildTigerTrout

With the tight patterns most turkey shotguns are capable of producing ,sights of some sort are a good idea. I have a set of Tru-Glo FO rifle sights on my Benelli Nova 20 ga.
Deer see you and think you are a stump. The Old Gobbler sees a stump and thinks it is YOU!

Twister

My poi was hitting low, so with the fiber optic sights, i adjusted it to be dead on. :fud:
