Hello!
I have been lurking/learning from this forum for a couple months now.  I first of all want to thank all of the members for the valuable insight.  This is my first year hunting turkeys and I have just taken my first mature Tom.  I hunted a piece of property that was public and called in two gobblers.  Killed the one with the longer beard 10in, 22 lbs, and 1 1/4 inch spurs.  I am totally hooked now!

If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!

Welcome aboard. I just came through your state a few days ago turkey hunting. Beautiful country up your way.

Like you I am new to the site.  There seems to be a lot of great guys and valuable info.  Was your bird a Merriam's?

Welcome and congrats on your first mature bird!

Nice job!!!  A mature bird like that your first year?  Awesome!  Congratulations!

It was an eastern.  In the SE part of the state.  I know there are many people who travel to Nebraska with the hope to get 3 of their 4 but honestly most birds are no longer 100% and most crossbreeds.  This area I have found is reasonably new to turkeys, not a high concentration of birds but the ones there have seemed to want to play.
