i got 4 different chokes to try and 3 different shells what do i need to do to get the most precise test for example...cleaning between shots, cleaning choke , etc

Philippe

When i change shell types i just run a hoppes soaked bore mop thru the barrel and choke and hit them with a dry one and continue testing.

I recommend deep cleaning the bore before you begin. Then shoot one type of shell through one type of choke, as many times as you want but at least 3 or 4 to account for the variances from shell to shell, without cleaning between shots.

When you switch shells or chokes, I recommend that you dry brush the bore, followed by a cotton patch wet with Hoppe's #9, followed by a dry cotton patch. No need to deep clean again.

I don't recommend any type of cleaning between shots because you want to learn if your gun "likes" a squeaky clean bore or one that's slightly fouled. The only way to learn that is to shoot clean and then progressively dirty.

Lastly, I know shells are expensive but if you don't shoot at least 3 or 4 (the more the better) your results may not be accurate. All brands and types of shotshells will vary in performance from shell to shell. To see what works best you just have to shoot several.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,
Clark

Great advice, I've followed alot of your advice lately and have made great progress! Chaz, try what the man says, it has worked for alot of us on here. That deep cleaning process works wonders.
