I am in the process of putting the feathers in the bracket for the KillerB decoy and I have a jake merriam fan and was wondering if the eastern turkeys we have here in MN would be spooked by the lighter tail feathers?

I don't think they could care less about whether it's a Merriam, Eastern or Rio as long as it appears to be a wild turkey is all that matters.

I dont think it will matter at all. I have an eastern on mine and have called in several merriams with it.
Good idea putting a jake fan on it - thats what I have on mine too..

I doubt they care or know what subspecies of turkey the feathers are from. It might even be an advantage to use lighter feathers as they would be more visible.
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!
