Both my wife and Dad have had two back surgeries and I will echo DON'T GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

I am a Physical Therapist and worked with back patients every day for 7 years when I ran an outpatient rehab facility. You only have 1 back. Keep it healthy. If you have an injury you are considered to have a back problem for the rest of your life. You need to learn what the contraindications are for back problems. No excessive lifting, turning, flexing. No high impact exercises such as running, jumping etc... Stationary bike is your friend for cardio but long term sitting is not good, so 15 minute bike rides at a time. All this said you need to be diagnosed first before you exercise because depending on what your diagnosis is determines your rehab protocol.

BTW- I to go to a Chiropractor when I am out of alignment. I don't believe in the adjustments 2-3 times a week for 6 weeks but when I am out of alignment I need to be put back in I go and get adjusted. Maybe 3-4 times a year.

I was always told to never go to a chiro. And I didn't for years. But when the ortho's options were surgery with a chance of a bad outcome or pain meds with a chance of becoming an addict, I went to a chiro for the 1st time in my life. He's awesome!! I cannot believe I lived for nearly 15 years with back pain when I could have been pain free. Go to the chiro!!!!

The chiro got me back on my feet and that was in '08. I still go in every 3 weeks for an adjustment, and man do I feel good after that. He told me that your back is kinda like a rusty screen door and you have to open just a little bit at a time. He also told me that ice
not heat will be your best friend. I still use ice packs everyday, and they do help. Go see the chiro.

I have seen the chiro twice and I must say what he's done is amazing and I still need 4 more visits to straightne my back up. I start mckenzie physical therapy Monday that work is paying fo but I am paying for the chiro with my own insurance and money because I'll do whatever I can to get back on my feet for the 31st. I must say when I looked at myself in the mirror I was a little creeped out my pelvis looks like it grew and extra hump on my left side and the right side was cut off. My whole troso looked like it was 12'' to the left (probably not 12'') kinda creepy looking but the 2 visits Ive had you can really tell Im straightening back out.

Been there. Spine looks like a corkscrew. Chiro is the only thing that really helps me.

Its your back, i wouldnt strive for any remedies. I'm a nurse and what you need to do is treat it with pain meds, rest, and then get to a specialist when you can. Sucks to hear about your pain :(

Fell out of a treestand.....actually ladder rung broke as I was climbing into stand this past September. I was in New Brunswick Moose hunting at the time. Only fell 11 feet...BUT landed directly on my head and was knocked unconcious. Broke my back in 5 places...out of work for 3 months...physical therapy.....meds.....BLAH! I have a plate in my neck which the Neurosurgeon believes helped prevent my breaks from occurring high and contributing to MUCH WORSE outcome! I feel for you, as each day is different for me...put it this way NOW when my elderly Grandmother talks about her joints and bones aching during cold rainy weather....I can definately relate! Hope things get better for you soon.

I'm a Certified McKenzie Therapist.  From your description of your torso position it sounds like a lateral shift.  Typically they will work on correcting this shift first before getting into other things.  Most times people don't even realize they are shifted over until they take off their shirt, someone points it out, and they look in the mirror.  First thing is to get you back into a straight/upright position.

Truth is, everybody can tell you to do this, don't do that, etc and it will be different for each person.  Take these meds, don't take these meds,  see a chiro, don't see a chiro.  Good luck with it.

If this thing persists, then be wary of the work comp 'second opinion' doctor that is going to tell you that you are alright and need to return to full work duty.  That really irks me.
