Hey guys, do you all think a guard is ness for ffiii?  I have mounted on 336 mount on 870sm.  Thoughts appreciated-I'm pretty rough on my equipment and just wondering.  Thanks in advance.

I have a FFIII on my 835, and I have opted to not run with a guard on mine, and personally I am not worried about it in the least.

You will have a better field of view without it.  Shoot with both eyes open and the frame of the sight pretty much blurs out.  The guard is thicker and makes this not work quite as well.

I was good for two full seasons, then on the last day of season last year, my gun slipped off my shoulder as I reached back into the truck for something. The weight of the gun landed with the FFII against the rocker panel of the truck. Broke the glass, but the sight still worked.

Burris was kind enough to replace it.

For the price, I can't justify the guard. I won't spend 80.00 to protect 200.00. Just don't drop it on a rock or a truck. :)

Thanks guys.  I can still see my Williams fire sights in case I do have an accident.  I assume I should leave fire sights on correct?  It may diminish field of view slightly but worth it to have redundant sights.

I left my iron sights on. I carry the required torx wrench to remove the sight if needed.
