can a turkey see a colored light

i have never used one going into woods before daylight. Just wondered if you guys have and results??

Yes they can see it.  I don't know but I've heard they have no depth perception with a colored light.  They see it but have no idea how far or close it is.  Not sure how people figured that out.

Sure they see it but as long as you don't go crazy with the light like shining it into the trees and what not it won't bother them. I always use a green headlamp and have used one for years. I've even walked right under birds that were roosted with the green lamp and have not bumped birds off the roost.

My thought is that birds can see colors.  Otherwise, why would the males be so brightly colored?  All things in nature have a purpose or God wouldn't have made them that way.

Regarding depth perception, most prey species have eyes to the sides of their heads, so they only have 2-D (height & width) vision, rather than binocular (3-D) vision like predators with front-facing eyes.  This enables them to see more of their surroundings.  Some prey animals have eyes more to the front than others, and therefore have a bit more depth perception.  Notice the location of the eyes on predators, including birds of prey, compared with prey animals.

I think this is why turkeys are so spooky... they can just see movement but don't have any idea how close it is.  Just my .02!

I'm sure they can see it but dont know that they have the ability to reason to the extent to associate it with a human neccessarily or even danger. I think the problem is that it draws attention that might have been avoided otherwise.

Never really gone out early enough to need a light, but I assume, like anything else.....they can pick up light.

I do not use a light and have never thought about it.
