Well, I went to Bass Pro today to purchase an Indian Creek .555 for my new youth model 870, 21" barrel, just to give me something to try until my SSX gets here. I narrowed it down to those two chokes, seems like most have gotten good results with those two and I didn't order the IC because I just KNEW BP had em. Well....the only empty spot in the IC section was the 20ga Remington version. Bummer. I haven't even shot the gun so I grabbed one of the only two available turkey chokes for a Rem 20, the .570 TightWad. It was either that or the Undertaker. I haven't heard much good about either of these on here, but I had to have something...right? Anyway, shot twice today in a pretty stiff wind at 40 yds, Fed HW7's........ Averaged 154. Also tried Pb 5's I had from years ago, they were horrible, didn't even count. I'm very pleased to say the least, the SSX is really gonna have to step up to beat out the TW. If money is tight, don't discount that $23 choke. I know every gun's different, but it really impressed me.

You probably need to hold on to that one.

Walmart is selling those Tightwad chokes now. Guess i'll pick one up and see how she does with the fed heavyweight 6's and 7's :fud:

Yeah, that's kinda why I made this post. It's a cheap option that I know personally I would've overlooked mostly because of what I've read about other great shooting chokes on this forum. I'm still gonna order an IC, but the TW may just work for some folks, and it's really inexpensive. I didn't try any H13, but the HW's really did awesome. Give it a shot, it may surprise you.

My SSX just showed up along with some Hevi 13 7s. Got the gun with the IC 555. Got to go do some more shooting with the Feds and Hevi. Pouring the rain down here right now though.

Carey thats a great average pattern.

What barrel length you shooting? I'm assuming it's an 870, since you got the SSX. How did that IC perform for you with the HW's? I'm probably still going to order the IC, depending on how my SSX works out. Just wondering if it'd be worth it since I'm already in the 150's. Seems like I've read a few places of the .555 IC putting up slightly higher numbers for some folks than 150's out of the short barreled 870's. Don't get me wrong, Im very happy with what I've got (my best 20ga pattern ever had been low 140's, which I realize are very respectable numbers, in another gun, which I hunted with for a couple years), but I'd really love to be 170 or so, which may not happen for me.

Only shot it with the Sumtoy. Shot some lead with the IC...didnt even count. I cleaned my barrell and then polished it with some oil and OOOO steel wool. Shines like a new nickel. I got the sum toy for a good even 10/20 pattern for my little boy. Got the SSX for me. I want a longer range gun. If I can get 170 in the 40, Ill have what Im looking for. Want to shoot the Federals, but got some Hevi to see if they get the numbers.

The Sumtoy is deadly out to 30, then the pattern fell apart like lead out to 40. Was supposed to go see William and shoot this weekend until these storm came through. I hadnt cleaned the barrell when shooting it either.
