"Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?" (Romans 6:3).

A few days ago our country noted the 50th anniversary of John Glenn's trip into space (and back!).  What an accomplishment.  Those were exciting times.

Listening to the commentators, NASA's concern was getting him back to earth safely.  Where would Glenn come down and would he survive the landing?  Of all the historic moments in the world,  astronauts safely splashing down in the ocean is certainly a highlight.

Our spiritual lives present a similar situation.  Sin's power continues to accelerate in this world of ours, launching countless souls far from God's presence and peace.  Like space explorers before us, finding a method of getting back to home and back to God is the real concern.

When it comes to our salvation, however, the Maker of heaven and earth is much wiser and more powerful than the scientists who figure out how astronauts can land safely.  In God's perfect design of salvation, our spiritual drift and lostness is eliminated through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

St. Paul writes that our baptism into Jesus' death is the means by which we are also raised with Him to eternal life.  Christians have died with Christ Jesus so that we can live the new life by faith with Him.  That is quite a splashdown... and splash up!

Makes Turkey Hunting seem kinda trivial and a waste of time dont it.
I should spend as much time in gods word as I do worrying about shooting a turkey.
Thanks for Sharing.
