No hunting in NC on Sunday except archery on private land only.  I am originally from FL and have plenty of land down there to hunt Sundays, just kinda far away. This No Sunday hunting is crazy, especially when we are workin Saturdays.  Then that is the government telling me I am not allowed to hunt

Sugar Ray and Zach20065 .. are you guys lucky enough to live in one of the WV counties that allow it on Sundays on Private Land?

Cause my county that I hunt in WV doesn't .. they did for one year back in 2001 I believe it was then took it away the next year ..

I live in Upshur Co and hunt in Webster mainly, so no, not that lucky.  I loved that short period before the election that voted it down.  I was still in school then and only had 1 day a week to hunt, that was if I wasn't studying.  Should be back on the ballot this year.

Devastator

sorry to hear of the vote, here in pa the biggest anti sunday hunting supporter is the pa. farm bureau.not sure if i was a farmer that i would not want someone killing the mammals that are eating my crops, with permission.

Well that stinks.
Here in NC the insurance companies beg for more deer to be taken, and they were a big part in getting some amount of Sunday hunting passed in......yet in Va. they don't...very odd....

It is absolutely ridiculous!!

I am a Christian, and will not miss church to hunt, but I will not tell anyone else that they can't hunt on Sunday.  I am not the Lord and am not going to make that decision for someone else.

Would I hunt before and after church, yes I will.  God made this earth and put animals on it for us to use.

If you don't think it is right to hunt on Sunday, then don't hunt, but don't tell me I can't b/c of your beliefs.

It is just like smoking.  Just cause you choose to smoke, doesn't mean I do, or that you should be able to make me inhale your second hand smoke.

That's exactly how i feel

I'm not going to get into a religious discussion, that, in my opinion, is for individuals to decide for themselves anyway,

Here's my 2 cents.

It's for individuals to decide when they can hunt -- but only within the legal parameters the state allows.  If the people of VA say I can't hunt past noon, then I have no right to hunt past noon.  If VA says I can't hunt turkeys till the 2nd Sat in April, then I have no right to hunt turkeys till the 2nd Sat in April.

Each state has every right to set their season dates and times however and whenever they see fit.  And we have no right to hunt in their state at any other times and dates than they allow us to.

Hunting is a priviledge, not a right..

Actually, hunting is a constitutional right in the state of Virginia and this policy clearly violates the separation of church and state.

We have many frivolous and unsubstantiated laws within the system but one that defies freedoms established within the national bill of rights and the state's constitutional amendments should not be dismissed as insignificant or even tolerable.

Everything that you mention above is set by the VDGIF in Va, not the legislators.  They defer to the State Game agency to set limits, seasons, hunting hours etc.  Yet this old Blue Law prohibits the VDGIF from allowing hunting on Sundays, even though the VDGIF came out this past year in support of it for the first time ever.  They always stayed neutral before.  There hands are tied to allow Sunday hunting because of this old Blue law that prohibits it.

I would not live in a state that prevented me from hunting any day of the week.    That law is stupid, and serves no legitimate purpose.

Luckily I live in a state that allows it but I'd be ticked off if I had that law to deal with too. It's about as bad as some states putting an age limit on children hunting. Give me the dates I can hunt, tell me how much the license is and how many I can kill. After that........BACK OFF!

Definitely the farm bureau that is the strongest opponent of Sunday hunting here in PA. I don't understand their problem with it. If farmers don't want hunters on their property on Sunday, then they could make that decision. There is millions of acres of public forest (state and federal) land here in PA.

One thing that no sunday hunting provides for me is a happier marriage. I am sure that the wife is with the farm bureau on this one.

I sure hope PA adopts Sunday hunting. Good luck down there in VA.

Dog hunters are the biggest opposition to getting the ban lifted.

Im from Pa and am still waiting on the outcome.  High hopes it is in our favor but I unfortunately have my doubts.  Keeping the fingers crossed though!!!
