patterned gun today..Sumtoy and IC chokes with Stoeger M2000

just couldnt stay inside anymore lol. I got a Sumtoy .670 choke to try out from William as well as i wanted to try some hevi #6 and Hevi #7. I shot the IC last year with good numbers (244 at 40yds) but didnt seem to do so well this year, however i did shoot it last with only bore snaking my barrel between each shots.

numbers will be plus or minus a few as i had a crappy 10"circle to use that i could not see though so it was a real guess to get the most in each circle.

Temp = 58degrees
Wind = 10-15 south wind (i was shooting North so the wind behind me)
shot from a led sled and bore snaked after each shot.

not bad results but could use some input on the actual pattern. The IC was shooting much lower POI then the Sumtoy but that is easily fixed, just wasnt worried about it at the moment







this one i lost count lol and had to use the other side to recount, but the POI was very good








now the IC choke in a 665, this one shot much better last year but maybe the temps and dirty gun had more to do with it

Those are good numbers, the 7s better.  Good even patterns in the 10".  Hard to tell much outside of that.  What are you looking for?

also to add these are 3" shells just FYI.

Just looking for comments i guess, never really worried about patterns until the past few years so dont have a ton of experience with it. For 15years i just go with what i could afford and went hunting, trying to really fine tune the guns i have now.

to be honest i dont even know what is good to great numbers for #7 out of a 3" shell or even #6 for that matter. I understand anything over 100 is fine but not sure what some really good pattern consistency and numbers are for 3". I dont care for it to be a rifle per say but want to optimize my gun for max 50yds without it being the size of a nickle at 20. I am not a long shooting, heck i cant even see something real well at 60yds so shooting it is not really an option but would like to remove all doubt so to speak out to 40-50yds. I am not hung up on #'s and not trying to get to the 300 club to be clear, just want it to shoot the best that i can make it for my hunting.

I'd then stick with the sumtoy and Hevi #7s.  the 2 oz loads in the 3" shells are great loads.  200 at 40 will definitely kill at 50!!

yes it was at 40yds.

I spoke to William over at sumtoy again and he is sending me a .650 choke just to see what the difference will be in that and the .670 so when it gets in and warms up a tad i will try that one as well. This time i will bring a better 10" circle to use and something to clean between shots other then a bore snake.

I will say i could not be happier with the guys over at sumtoy and would without a doubt recommend them to anyone looking into a new choke. Great customer service and the William has gone above and beyond to help me find the perfect choke.  They flat out shoot and William will make sure you are satisfied with how your gun shoots.

I recommend a Jellyhead .655 or a Kick's .655 for those #7's in your Stoeger.  I've been shooting those combinations for years in my Benelli M1 with devastating results.

Those are some good patterns.  I second the suggestion of the  .655 Jellyhead.  My 2000 did not like the 3-2-7's (wouldn't eject) but the sub-2oz Hevi 6 loads gave respectable 40 yd patterns with the .655 Jellyhead in a 24" barrel.
