How to turn crow soundboards?

Hey guys, I have seen many crow calls on here with turned soundboards. I was wondering if you pre drill the soundboards to let the soulnd travel through it or no? some information on turning soundboards would be appriciated.

You can pre drill your boards or channel them out afte you get the fit in the barrel.
