Hi Guys

My brother and Mom recently signed me up for a 2 year subscription to Fur Fish and Game magazine, great magazine fyi. I have been reading about trapping and it intrigues me. I might start trying to trap some up north this winter to try and get a few yotes but I cant find/read about what is a good size/type of trap for yotes. Those of you with some experiennce in the matter, HELP!!!!

Thanks Leo

A size 2 or 3 foothold with offset jaws is usually a good place to start. Bridger is my favorite brand.

FGF is a great mag.

If your just starting, I might recommend something else than a coyote for starting out. Coyotes are great at digging up traps, quick learners, and don't forget much.

Coons are easy, particularly with the lil griz traps. H

i would use no less than #2 double coil spring in a dirt hole set.the key for yotes is to be clean, clean ,clean.

Number 2 foot holds are a very good size, but 3's are better most times, (bigger catch zone). For someone starting out I would recomend Duke traps for their price. They are very good traps for less money. If it is legal where you are give some thought to snares. Good luck with trapping it is like Xmas every morning.
Jakes are like scotch. They are not worth a darn until they age.

#7
For strictly yotes:
1. MB 650 (offst jaws)
2. Bridger (#3 full modified/offset jaws))

For fox/yotes
1. MB 550 (offset jaws)
2. Bridger #2 (fully modified offset jaws)

Get some snares too if you have decent fences around.  Any ditch or hole in the fence will have game crawling through it.  You will prob catch coons/possum/fox and some yotes if you watch your scent.  Just be sure to anchor it good and get some strong enough for coyote.

I just read the article on the Bull and Grizz fight in at the end of this month's issue.   A good one for sure.
If you must smoke, please use BLACKPOWDER!

A federal trapper I know used this to make it easier to catch coyotes and mountain lions in the mountains above Palm Springs. Half fill pint mason jars with chicken parts, seal with a lid real good and hang in the sun until ripe. Set your traps, back off and bust a jar next to the trap  with a pellet rifle and you wont have to worry about human scent and you will catch them when all else fails (make sure it is legal in your area).
