Trying to make one similar and have two questions if any of yall remember or have one of these jewels from the 50s and 60s
1. What is the thickness of the latex or is it rubber?
2. How wide is the top of the bar reed stretches over ?
Thanks for any help.  This may be a long shot

Never heard of this call. Is it a mouth call or a tube call?  Assuming it was/is a tube call, from that era I would suspect the reed material might be proph...but that is just speculation. If you are looking for a recommendation as to what to replace the reed material with, I would suggest something (latex) in the .003 -.004 range, but there are other choices, as well. As for the width question, it seems to me that most tube calls...even from that era...have a diameter of about 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 inches or so.
Again, though, just kind of guessing about it to try to give you an answer to your questions...

There's some good information re: Puckett's call in the new turkey call history book by Brent Rogers et al.

turkeycallhistory.com

Anyone with even a marginal interest in old turkey calls would surely enjoy this book.

That's a unique and interesting old call, kind of a cross between a tube call and a diaphragm mouth call, but played by blowing across your upper lip like a cherry leaf. Given the apparent dimensions I'd guess a latex on the thicker side, maybe .006-.008?
